YARD SIGN RECYCLING INITIATIVE
Produce. Recycle. Repeat.

What is the Yard Sign Recycling Initiative?
The Yard Sign Recycling Initiative is a collaborative effort between the SGA, One Shade Greener, and TCU Grounds to promote responsible use and recycling of yard signs, ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable campus. Yard signs are an essential tool for campus marketing, but they often end up in landfills due to limited disposal options. This initiative introduces an easy process to recycle yard signs and their stakes, supporting TCU’s commitment to sustainability.

How It Works: Recycling Yard Signs is as easy as 1-2-3

1. Produce:  Design your yard signs with sustainability in mind.

Expiration Dates:

  • All yard signs should include an expiration date on the bottom right corner.
  • For ongoing signs, remove them by the Monday of Commencement week if you plan to reuse them. Historically, facilities have removed signs left up before Commencement to prepare the campus, but commencement-related signs may remain.
  • Place signs in flower beds instead of lawns to prevent interference with groundskeeping.

2. Recycle

  • Remove your yard signs promptly once expired.
  • Drop off signs and stakes at the designated SGA Office Recycling Bins:
    • Bin 1: For signs
    • Bin 2: For stakes

3. Repeat:  Continue using sustainable practices for yard signs. Every little effort helps keep TCU beautiful and environmentally friendly!

Why it Matters?
Currently, yard signs are disposed of in trash bins, leading to unnecessary waste that contradicts TCU’s sustainability goals. By recycling, we:

  • Reduce landfill waste
  • Promote eco-friendly practices
  • Ensure a clean, welcoming campus environment
