Constitutional Referendum

Why is the student body voting?

As per the Student Government Constitution, Article VIII, amendments to the SGA Constitution must first be approved by the organization. In order to become finalized, they must then be voted on by the undergraduate student body. The 106th session of the TCU Student Government Association proposes the following changes to the Constitution and asks for your consideration and vote on these changes before they can be adopted.

How and when do I vote?

All undergraduate students will receive a link to the official ballot in their TCU email the morning of August 21, 2020.  Online voting is open from 9:00 AM to 11:59 PM.

What are the changes being proposed on the ballot?

The proposed change on the September 1 Referendum ballot is as follows:

  1. Defines TCU’s “primary academic units” as the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, Bob Schieffer College of Communication, College of Education, College of Fine Arts, College of Science & Engineering, Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Neeley School of Business, and School of Interdisciplinary Studies
  2. Facilitates apportionment of 48 House of Representatives seats among these primary academic units based on their populations
  3. No longer apportions seats for the John V. Roach Honors College

If adopted, how will the SGA Constitution look once these changes are incorporated?
